For those of you who might be wondering…

“Coat Hanger Tools”

My Dad had a knack for being able to twist & form a coat hanger into tools of many shapes & sizes and purposes. Give that man a coat hanger, and there weren’t too many things he couldn’t fix. So this category is about taking “tools” that may not have been precisely designed for certain purposes, but we find a way to make them work. Ultimately, this should save us some money, maybe some time, and probably some disk space.

“Home Depot Wanderings”

OK, the title is probably raising a few eyebrows. So here’s the explanation. I’m pretty good at “visualizing” solutions. I see a problem, and in my head, I see basic “shape” of the solution that would solve the problem. Sometimes, it’s a home-related problem. I need “something” that will do thus-and-so. I have NO CLUE if such a thing even exists. But I know sort of what it would need to look like, be made of, etc. So with this picture in my head, I’ll go wandering through the aisles of home depot (in no particular area, since I don’t know WHERE I might find this… “thing” (remember - I don’t even know if it exists!!). So I just wander and look. Sometimes I’ll see something in electrical that solves a window problem. Or something in broom handles that solves a furniture problem. Like I said, I don’t know what it is I’m looking for, I just know what it kinda needs to look like. And sometimes, I have an idea in my head of what it needs to look like, but in my wanderings my eyes fall on something that looks completely different, but the old brain says “Wait a minute! THAT would work even BETTER!!”. So this category is about finding solutions to problems, even if the solution may originally have had nothing to do with that kind of problem. I guess you might call it the “Coat Hanger Corollary” ;-)
